4a. Design CT activities where data can be obtained, analyzed, and represented to support problem-solving and learning in other content areas.

4c: Guide students on the importance of diverse perspectives and human-centered design in developing computational artifacts with broad accessibility and usability.

5d. Establish criteria for evaluating CT practices and content learning that use a variety of formative and alternative assessments to enable students to demonstrate their understanding of age-appropriate CS and CT vocabulary, practices, and concepts.

Hero's Journey

My partner and I decided to create a hero's journey story that revolved around the idea of recycling. The TEK we used was 4.b- Make informed choices in the use and conservation of natural resources and reusing and recycling of materials such as paper, aluminum, glass, cans, and plastic. Our goal was to make students realize that they can be hero's everyday by making sure they recycle. We taught them recycling terms while also teaching them what exactly is recyclable here in Corpus Christi. We started off with using an AR app called Smash Trash that allowed students to grasp a general idea of what is recyclable. Then we scattered recycled material around the ground and had students go scavenger them using our moment wheel. Before they went and scavagered, they spun a movement wheel which determined how they had to go gather their items. The movement wheel included tasks such as running, hopping, skipping, and bear crawling. When they were done, we did a closing quiz to see what they learned!

Overall Experience

The overall experience was amazing. Students had a great time learning how to use the AR app, scavagnering items, and learning new things about recycling. I can for sure say that everyone went home learning something that they did not know before. For example, here in corpus christi they do not recycling plastic bags, glass, and items with food or liquid in them. This experience was a great way to show how we can get active outdoors while also learning something. If I was able to do this again I definitely would!
